NFL Considers Blocking Anthem Protests. Here’s Where The Protesters ..Be Forced To Kneel Next Season
The Daily Caller ^ | 11/22/2017 | Benny Johnson

It has not been a good season for NFL kneelers and National Anthem protesters.

Fans have reacted with literal fire and fury as the anthem protests have swept across the NFL. People are tuning out in record numbers while attendance at games has dropped to its lowest level in decades.

The league has been caught flat-footed on the issue and is scrambling to keep the rage of fans at bay as the PR nightmare continues to unfold.  Now, it seems the league is ready to make a permanent solution to the problem.

Reports indicate that if the protests continue, the NFL will make official rules dictating where and how the protesters can make their political statements. According to The Washington Post, the new rules being considered by team owners and NFL executives will outlaw all protests during the anthem and confine protesters to the locker room if they wish to sit out the anthem.

They should pull a fast one on the anthem kneelers. Let them all kneel, then recite the Lords prayer for theml

Here’s the thing though....

How far do you take it? Should the players be forced to put their hand over their heart? Should they be forced to sing along with the song? Instead of standing, what if they slightly crouch or just hunch over or bend down a little bit?

I think allowing the players to protest is a good thing. I reveals the true character of the players on the field. It is then up to the rest of us to determine how we want to proceed. Do we want to keep supporting America hating thugs or do we want to spend our time and money on other interests?

Make provision for anti-American NFL TROGLODYTES? Well that just tells you all you need to know about anti-American NFL.

Will the NFL punish players that go out to salute the flag?

Sorry, your 3rd priority is wrong.

3rd priority: Gettin' paid

4th priority: Endorsement deals

5th priority: Getting merchandising value up

6th priority: Playing football, but only on the plays where I might get the ball.

Goodell wasn’t smart enough to figure that out, and he wants a 20 million dollar raise!

Bring back the American Football League.

IOW, the NFL is going to keep flinging crap at the wall until they find some that sticks. If they don't want to crush the protests, they need to say so, and say why. Otherwise, I hope all the owners and the NFL itself wind up in the poorhouse, where they belong. The federal response should be to outlaw all athletic scholarships, all sports, and outlaw public financing for sports arenas.

I think it’s very unlikely the NFL will back down. The owners would lose all their liberal social status and that means more to them than money.

I still like pro football and what the stupid NFL is doing is creating an opportunity for a new league.

If the new league has black players, it will have the same issue as the NFL. The real issue is the degree to which blacks have become alienated from American mainstream society. If these disaffected blacks aren't careful, mainstream society will become disaffected from THEM. They won't like it if that happens.

You left off a zero.

You nailed it. Tagliabue got it. He specifically barred the league from committing some of the suicidal moves Goodell seems very happy to make.

“How far do you take it?”

Where they have to take an action that violates their religious beliefs - I believe such exemptions are made for Jehovah’s Witnesses in saying the Pledge Of Allegiance, for example.

“I think allowing the players to protest is a good thing. I reveals the true character of the players on the field.”

I disagree. It’s in how they play the game by which they should be judged. I don’t give a flying flip what they choose to do off the field, on their own time; that’s their business - as is taking both the praise and brickbats that may result from off the field antics.

Bud Grant did it right, his players having their helmets off and respectfully standing was actually something they practiced in training.
