Was she on PTO? And does WAPO require that all PTO activities are cleared with the paper management before they happen? You’d think that a front-leaning progressive organization like WAPO would have appropriate personnel policies which clearly define appropriate behavior and consequences for failure to comply.
Their comments of denial are in fact so stupid. Any organization has processes in accounting policy and in employee conduct. They just got caught lying big time.

“progressive” and “consequences” cannot be used like that. One progressive principle is “no consequences for us - never, no way, won’t happen”.
