The recent passage of mandatory E-Verify by the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee brings us one step closer to ending the root cause of most illegal immigration into the United States outlaw businesses that hire illegal immigrants. Illegal border crossings, visa overstays, and children born in the United States to parents here illegally would all be dramatically reduced or eliminated if we ended the ability for outlaw employers to take advantage of those that arrive here illegally.
There are hundreds of thousands of young adult children of undocumented immigrants that have been here since childhood because we have allowed outlaw employers to hire and employ their parents illegally for decades. Roughly one-half of the nation's undocumented immigrant population results from visitors who entered legally but who do not leave when their time is up because Congress continues to refuse to mandate the well-tested and widely-used E-Verify system. When visitors sense that illegal employment is widespread, the temptation to break their visa agreements grows stronger.
E-Verify would greatly reduce the magnet for illegal labor. Worldwide, at this very moment, people are enticed to illegally cross borders and overstay their visas in search of jobs that should belong to an American or someone who came here legally. Fewer people from around the world would make the attempt if we could ensure employers hire only those here lawfully and have work authorization.
The bill introduced by U.S. Reps. Lamar Smith (R-TX) and Ken Calvert (R-CA) is called the Legal Workforce Act of 2017, H.R. 3711, and it would require every employer in the U.S. to use E-Verify to determine whether new hires are authorized to work.
The law now requires companies to employ only individuals who may legally work in the United States either U.S. citizens, or foreign citizens who have the necessary authorization. E-Verify is a free, fast and easy internet-based system that allows employers to determine one thing and one thing only: the eligibility of their new hires to work in the United States.
One of the claims put forward by E-Verify detractors is the false charge that it would create a massive federal database. E-Verify is not a database at all but a system that takes the same information every new hire already puts on an I-9 paper form and via the internet confirms, usually within a matter of a few seconds, whether that information is accurate and the employee is authorized to work in the United States. Because E-Verify itself deters undocumented immigrants from applying for jobs they aren't authorized for, new hires of employers who use E-Verify are immediately authorized nearly 99 percent of the time.
If a new hire receives a tentative non-confirmation, that employee continues to work while correcting any inaccurate information on files inaccuracies that could prevent the individual from receiving government benefits, such as future Social Security payouts.
Employees also can protect themselves from identity theft with E-Verify "Self-Lock" which allows workers to proactively protect themselves against ID theft while confirming that their vital personal information is accurate and up-to-date.
For law-abiding employers, E-Verify offers instant verification of employment eligibility and peace of mind that their workforce is comprised of legal workers. E-Verify is free, fast, and takes the guesswork out of determining employment eligibility. The Legal Workforce Act would also grant employers who use E-Verify in good faith safe harbor from prosecution should an unauthorized worker be wrongly authorized by the system.
We have looked the other way for decades as outlaw employers have depressed incomes for Americans and those here legally. Most Americans want citizens and legal immigrants already here to get priority for U.S. jobs over citizens from other countries who are in the U.S. illegally. E-Verify helps accomplish that.
Like I said, E-verify is just the tip of a very big iceberg. I’m sure there are plenty of other things I forgot.
Mexicans practice getting over the wall.
“End the Root Cause of Illegal Immigration”
It’s called liberalism.
If you remove the ability of illegals to work, then you pay them welfare. And if you think the government is going to stop them from living by starving them, you are going to be wrong.
Here’s a suggestion: make the illegals unable to vote. If they are in this country illegally, then they should not have the right until they have been a citizen for 18 years. A person born in this country can’t vote until they are 18. So until that time, treat them like a felon. they are really. We can’t seem to stop certain states like California from making them eligible. Okay, they can’t vote in a national election for 18 years after they become citizens if they are illegals. Then let’s see if the libs are willing to support them for all those years until they are eligible.

Sry true its just the tip. The federal Government cant even monitor their own departments but some magical department yet to be created is going to oversee a massive database and cross check every business to ensure all employee rolls match an identifiable legal person?
Yaaaa riiiiiight
I have instituted a DIY policy for ending illegal immigration, rather than wait on the government.
All the work I have done - remodeling, roof repair, lawn care, painting, etc., I insist on a contract.
In that contract I put a clause that requires the vendor to certify that all workers entering onto my property are authorized to work in the United States, and that I have the right to inspect each worker for proper visas and documentation. If the vendor/contractor is in violation of the contract, I have the right to cease work and for the vendor to pay a penalty and restore the property to its useful condition.
This is contract law. The federal, state, and local governments can’t do a thing about a contract, as long as it’s legal.
If everybody did this, we wouldn’t need more laws that won’t be enforced.
FYI, ther are also laws working their way through that a validated SSN will be required to get welfare.
So true; here in NJ many of the illegals are NOT here to work. They are here for free sh!t - housing, schools (including lunches), food stamps, health care...
Yep. In MN the Somali women are welfare breeders, birthing 5:1 over the core.
Great idea - for a start. That is why it will never happen.
Those Somali areas are creepy up there; there is no assimilation at all. Hooded ninjas pushing strollers...

An awful lot of them are wearing R jerseys.
There has been a 30 year bipartisan plan to steal the country from the citizens by importing foreigners.
They are trying to make sure we are not allowed to elect anyone else who sides with the citizens and the rule of law again.
We stunned them throwing out their Majority Leader, Eric Cantor.
Trump had the wealth and fame to punch through the Bush blockade at the RNC.
They will make sure that mistake does not happen again.
Its all about cementing the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA) in place.
They desperately do not want US to be able to restore the rule of law and reverse the demographic changes they have instituted through non-enforcement of laws and borders.
They invited 30 million people here to change the country against the will of the citizens and they do not want US sending them home.
They will do whatever it takes to keep US from electing anyone who sides with the citizens and the rule of law.
What they really dont want is for US to keep our country.
The final amnesty that would cement the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA) into place has been sought repeatedly since 2006. They sold us Rubio to get the last one in 2013.
We have been prevented from electing anyone who would side with US and the rule of law by their control of the RNC and state parties.
The most important thing to the Uniparty is protecting the demographic changes they have made to the country against the will of the citizens.
Thats what drives the NeverTrump, the media and the Democrats hatred of Trump, it is an extension of their hatred of US.
Doubt that will be successfully put in and will get stalled in committee. Neither side wants a national ID of any kind to be put in place. And this issue is one of the major reasons, I.E. voting, the libs fought that one previously. So if you can’t raise the bridge, lower the river.
I am hoping the states, like California, find it so expensive to support illegals on their own for the time needed for them to vote in that 18 year waiting period for a national election, that it makes them think twice about stepping out on their own to use this ploy to get votes. It’ll burn their wallets.

I used to give charitable contributions to the Virginia police association. I stopped when I fond out it is policy not to notify ICE when a suspect is considered to be an illegal alien. They just release them without contacting ICE. F the police.
I dislike this intensely, because it is a situation where “the people get a little, but the government gets a lot”.
How can anyone who opposes mandatory gun registration endorse mandatory *employment* registration? Do you really trust the government to regulate who can legally employ, and who they can employ?
Isn’t the potential for harm here astronomical?
I see REAL ID as a major threat to our liberty. The same with universal gun registration. The same with universal health care, and universal employment registration, and universal “this” and mandatory “that.”
When the government does stuff like this, it misuses it, it uses it against the wrong people, and it uses it to control and dominate the people.
So don’t assume, don’t EVER assume, that it will actually help the problem of illegal aliens. I truly doubt that this was its purpose from the very start. To me, its sole purpose seems to be the government giving itself more power, at the expense of liberty and freedom.
I long for the day when anyone who wants to work for the government, or even be elected by the people, must first face a battery of tests to determine if they have psychological issues, control issues, authoritarian or totalitarian impulses, etc.
But until that day comes, we can never, ever trust government to do what is in our best interests.
One thing Trump could do that would really freak out the illegal invader lobby would be to order the IRS to alert everyone who has 2 people using the same SSN about it. They could also notify every employer who has someone working for them that has an invalid SSN. This stuff is not rocket science.
