North Korea’s Packing Illegal Firepower On Border, And It’s Making South Korea Uneasy
Daily Caller ^ | 11-16-2017 | Ryan Pickrell

When a North Korean soldier slipped into South Korea in the Joint Security Area (JSA) at the Demilitarized Zone Monday, four of his comrades let loose a barrage of bullets, firing roughly 40 rounds at the man. He was hit five times before he collapsed in a pile of leaves on the southern side. The soldier was airlifted to a South Korean medical facility, where he remains in critical condition.

While South Korea is doing all that it can to save the wounded soldier’s life, Seoul is also deeply troubled by other aspects of the recent incident.

The North Korean troops who attempted to gun down the defector did so with assault rifles, specifically AK-47s. “This is a violation of the armistice agreement,” a South Korean military official told the Korea JoongAng Daily, adding, “We plan to lodge a serious protest against North Korea through the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission.”

Cheong Wa Dae — the Blue House — has yet to officially accuse North Korea of violating the armistice.

Only handguns are allowed in the JSA. Furthermore, the South is investigating whether North Korea fired into South Korea, which would also constitute a violation of the agreement made in the aftermath of the Korean War. It is, however, particularly disconcerting that the North Korean guards are carrying heavier firepower than their South Korean counterparts.

Sooner or later, the Norks will be moved to overplay their hand and they’ll get creamed.

Short of some miracle of good sense prevailing, of course. I thought I heard some stories of civil war rumbling in NK.

The Blue House serves scrumptious meals. Makes me hungry just thinking back on it.

That isn't what bothers South Korea. The South could crush the North by themselves without much difficulty. The problem is what comes after the victory.

Low nutrition.

I'm currently reading a food history book, and it mentions a guy that I think got captured at Corregidor. He was enough of a scientist to use a piece of toilet paper to check his fellow POWs vision, and somehow managed to juice grass for its Vitamin A to save their sight.

No kidding.

Didn't Ronald Reagan say "Peace through strength?" Actually, I believe the saying goes back to Roman times. ?

Another saying: "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns."

Sorry, a bit distracted; having a family crisis here. So I can only resort to old sayings. :)

Getting dizzy again; when my anxiety comes back--my daughter was just here--the room starts spinning. I cannot stand fighting with her anymore and I think I am going to move back to the States. They are adults now (18 year old daughter; 22 year old son).

Anyway, is it any surprise that NK has illegal firepower? That seems a given to me. I just worry about South Korea. My best friend in high school had parents from South Korea.

What? You think they should have used the “[whatever] Leader”’s technique of AA guns for termination?

I am of the mind that the fastest, best means of humbling NorK is to quite suddenly, send their entire navy of surface ships and submarines to the bottom. At the same time, sending a strong message to China and Russia that the sea off NorK is off limits.

It also allows the US to put anti-missile defenses close enough to the NorK coasts as to preclude their successfully launching any long range missiles. This would mean protecting the US, and Guam, as well as Japan, the Philippines, and anyone else those idiots might target.

It would also let NorK know that any time we wanted to, we could send profoundly powerful naval assets against them.

Doing it this way would mean that unless they were suicidal, we wouldn’t need to attack them on the land.
