Jeff Sessions is a man in search of a banana peel. When he cant find one to step on, he supplies his own.
Sessions is not a bad man, but he is a bad attorney general, as he demonstrated again Tuesday.
By writing to Republicans in Congress just hours before he was scheduled to testify that he was open to appointing a special prosecutor to examine former FBI Director James Comeys handling of Hillary Clintons e-mail case and the notorious Uranium One deal, Sessions primed the pump for a really big show.
Democrats arrived furious and Republicans gleefully expected an ah-ha moment. Both came away unsatisfied and unhappy.
Unfortunately for Sessions, the old conceit in journalism that if both sides are angry at your story, youve done something right doesnt apply to being attorney general. When nobodys happy, including your boss, youre failing.
While Democrats and Republicans are angry at Sessions for different reasons, theres no rule saying both cant be right.
The litany of things he couldnt remember or couldnt discuss seemed calculated to frustrate rather than enlighten. The fact that he thought non-answers to big questions would be good enough reflects how poorly he fits his job.
His faulty judgment has become a calling card, which is why Ive argued that appointing Sessions was Trumps biggest personnel mistake; yesterdays performance did nothing to change my view.
Theres also a new bonus reason: had Sessions stayed as a senator from Alabama, Roy Moores dirty history would have remained a secret instead of a national scandal that could help flip Senate control.
Sessions decision to recuse himself, then tell Trump, from anything related to the 2016 campaign led to the enormous cloud over the White House that has distorted the first year of the new presidency.

Ain’t that the truth.
I listened today to the exchange between congressman Jim Jordan and Session, and it would have be no more contentious if Jordan had been questioning Eric Holder.
It sounded like they were in opposing parties. Holder would have been more cooperative.
I’m truly disgusted with Session.
Watch here...
I have been following Session’s testimonies and parsing his words carefully.
We may soon learn he has been misjudged and owe him a big apology.
“We may soon learn...”
We have already learned that the Sessions’ apologists are talking nonsense.
Except for about 10 other people that Trump appointed.
(1) Michael Flynn - National Security Chief (Fired)
(2) Sean Spicer - Press Secretary (Resigned)
(3) Tom Price - Secretary HHS (Fired)
(4) Reince Priebus - Chief of Staff (Fired)
(5) Anthony Scaramucci - Communications Director (Fired)
(6) Steve Bannon - Chief Strategist (Fired)
(7-8) Rick Perry and Rex Tillerson - both believe in Man Made Global Warming
(9-10) Ivanka and Jared - both would have voted for Hillary if Trump had not run
(11) Kirstjen Nielsen - Sec. Homeland Security nominee - she supports DACA Amnesty
I am also starting to believe Sessions is a McConnell PLANT.
Today’s testimony by Sessions helped my general viewpoint which is an agreement with yours. Much as I am frustrated by the lack of apparent progress on anything related to all the scandals that are NOT being investigated......
On the other hand, this whole Kabuki theater has got a limited amount of time to get the action going and if disappointment is what Sessions has to deliver, we are truly in much worse shape than I thought.
A report card on Sessions (F-)

And Mark Levin’s. He pushed Sessions.
McConnell & Ryan torpedoing the MAGA agenda in congress & Sessions enabling the special counsel to embroil Trump with this Russia bs...The demoncrats couldn’t have done a better job hobbling Trump’s momentum out of the gate. The GOP shat on Trump voters and the last chance America has at survival.
The level of corruption & treachery is breathtaking.
Every last one of these aholes protecting the swamp are unindicted co-conspirators to treason & countless other high crimes.
Too bad there’s no one to bring them to justice.
I tend to agree. Larry Schweikart has a good analysis of Sessions’ testimony before Congress on his Twitter.
Basically, at this stage of the game, there’s a lot that absolutely must remain unsaid. LS compares the situation to the Ultra code intercepts in WWII.
I cling to hope over pessimism — and I’m anything but a Pollyanna by nature.
It’s time for the President to have that little talk with his AG about finding another position within the Administration for him so an interim AG can be appointed will one with the balls to this demanding job can be found and confirmed.
America’s patience is at an end.
...AG can be appointed; one with the balls...
Sometimes my fingers don’t listen to my brain...
“We may soon learn he has been misjudged and owe him a big apology.”
Suppose Sesions, behind closed doors, is putting together a real plan to nail the deep state. It seems to me that his vocal critics are helping him maintain that charade. Makes the bad guys think he is indeed twiddling his thumbs.
“We may soon learn he has been misjudged and owe him a big apology.”
I didn’t misjudge sh!t. Sessions is responsible for LEGITIMIZING the swamp’s ‘russian collusion’ bs by his recusal & then holding hearings on the matter. A matter that had no merit nor any evidence of a crime.
That didn’t matter to the beady-eyed, deep-state compromised rat bastard, Sessions...He recused himself. HIS DAG, a corrupt obama stooge, appointed a special counsel to investigate Trump. Amazing how Rosenstein and Mueller could find their way back into power at the DOJ. Not just in power, defacto AGs. Staggering, innit?
The damage this ahole, Sessions, has done to the Trump admin’s momentum and future success is incalculable. The swamp picked the ‘right’ man. *spit*
I can believe that based on their past behaviors and what we are witnessing.
I heard that. Definitely sounds suspicious for Sessions as part of the Deep State if pond scum Mitch McConnell wants him back in the senate.
Excellent meme!
I held out hope Sessions would be honorable but it’s not looking good. I pray to be wrong in my now opinion of him.
