I only listen to Rush occasionally, in the car, but I do remember hearing him earlier in the primaries. He was NOT a Trump fan. I heard him later, as Trump started getting pretty popular, and then he was all pro Trump. Maybe I’m just imagining, but it seems to me, that he was just jumping on the bandwagon, and not really a true believer. I still feel that way; if conservatives turned against Trump tomorrow, I think he’d drop him like a hot potato.

Rush couldn’t understand why, when a real conservative was running (Cruz), Trump supporters would still blindly follow Trump through all the “bad things” that came up. He simply maintained he couldn’t come down on a side because to do so would screw him over if the non-endorsed candidate won—he’d lose his audience.

But he was constantly dumbfounded over how “conservatives” could so blindly follow Trump through thick and thin, because Trump had been a registered Democrat far more years than a registered Republican, and he had the Clintons to his wedding.
