This Usry guy is just the first source in the article but I think the store employee Greg Legat is a more convincing source, as well as the former deputy DA Jones. Legat has some quotes in this article and in a New Yorker article that just came out today that changed my mind on this one.

We can not know what happened in any single instance so long ago, but a clear pattern is emerging. Best case this guy is a just a mall rat and not a chicken hawk.

I recently read a New Yorker article about a situation/person I know well, and the article was total, 110% fabricated, slanted, bullshit propaganda.

I have no idea about the veracity of the New Yorker article, but generally speaking, it’s a crap publication, just like The Atlantic, which is another place the writer - Charles Bethea - has articles. The Atlantic is also a leftist rag.
