Establishment Republicans once dreamed of replacing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz with a less bombastic alternative in 2018.
Those dreams now appear out of reach, even as a North Texas Republican with ties to states old political guard is on the verge of launching a challenge to the first-term senator.
A Fort Worth-based super PAC aimed at replacing Cruz with a Republican in the leadership style of President Ronald Reagan has barely raised any money.
Its favored candidate, Christian television executive Bruce Jacobson, last week stumbled in the early stages of a possible campaign rollout.
And while Cruz, who has more than $5.6 million stockpiled for reelection, made plenty of enemies during his first Senate term, hes spent the past year quietly mending fences with the same Republicans he disagreed with in the past.
Republicans both inside and outside Texas began public speculation about fielding a primary opponent against Cruz last year, citing personal disagreements with the senator. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., joked last year that If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.(continued)

Nope, it doesn’t say what infringed means, either.......
So without a definitive definition Cruz is good to go.
Agreed, they are two of the best we have at the moment.
We need to really clean House and Senate.
Far too many of them care more about fraudulently documented foreigners than the citizens and the rule of law.
You’re implying “Trumpism” is a nationalist movement?
Sure, if you want to follow the Kenyanesian Usurpation with the Cubanadian Usurpation. One was enough for me.
Natural born citizen means born here of citizen parents.
Rubio, Jindal, Cruz, Haley, George P. Bush and others are why the GOP did not object to Obama.
At your next Bircher meeting let them know that that argument isn’t persuasive, even with hardcore conservatives like this board.
From the article:
“Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., joked last year that If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.
Yep.
That is exactly what they want and there are plenty of folks here that are onto that game.
That is why Joe Straus is saying he is not running for re-election (of his current position).
We are saying good riddance http://www.speakerstraus.com/.
Is he out of politics?
I say no way and where ever he lands... look out!
.
Whole heartedly agree
No doubts it is a Nationalist Populist movement
Where does it say Free Republic isn’t a Conservative forum.
You can verify that his mother received free Canadian Neonatal Healthcare.
You can verify that those benefits were only given to Canadian citizens at the time.
You can also verify that while Canadian citizenship was easy to obtain, Canada did not allow dual citizenship until 1976.
You can find threads from the time of the primaries that go into great detail.
Parents of children born outside the country have to file to have them recognized. There are records of exactly how Ted Cruz was recognized as a citizen and when.
He could clear it up if he wanted.
I know that you agreed with me when it pertained to Obama.
Only after Cruz decided to run did you forget what natural born citizen means.
If it would be beneficial he would.
McConnell would love nothing better than for an ongoing fight between Cruz lovers and Justin Amash lovers and Rand Paul lovers and between every anti-establishment faction.
McConnell would pay trolls dearly to start or perpetuate such a distraction.
I love the Constitution.
Most politicians I loathe.
A very few are tolerable.
The ones who ignore the Constitution bother me more than most.
After he backed out on Moore, i lost intrest in Ted Cruz, he should have more backbone than that.
If you want to surrender that easy to un-proveable claims, your never going to win anything. it is extremely easy to recruit people to make un-proveable claims if you go fishing for them.
We could take down the entire Democratic party that way, except democrats are not stupid enough to surrender power for even legitimate claims. See Bob Menendez of new Jersey,David Alcon of New Mexico for Current cases of sexual abuses with actual evidence less than a few years old actually being prosecuted by law enforcement.

This last Ted Cruz attack against Roy Moore demonstates exactly why the supporters Cruz still has... still support him.
He was supposed to be their tool to attack Christians in politics ostensibly from within Christendom. Even though his dominionist theology is six parts Jehovah’s Witness, three parts Benny Hinn, and one part David Koresh.
That is all you’ve got? The most conservative person in the House or Senate and this is how he is compromised?
Like it or not, agree or not, the SC would have ruled him eligible. But your reply is frankly just a side issue - it doesn’t address my original challenge.
