I grew up in this era of the 1960s 1970s in alabama. While rare for 13 and 14 year olds, I probably saw four 15 year old girls marry.

At some point in French history, it was accepted for 12 year old girls to marry. Maybe nationally, some folks are freaking out, but most Alabama folks over 50 remember how it was.

Makes me feel verrrry old. Met my wife when she was 14 and we married a week after her 16th birthday. That was in NM no less, no where near the venerable old South.
