Marty Robbins had a huge hit with that on Boston radio late 50’s/early 60’s.I guess his version may not have charted nationwide.

Marty Robbins' version of "A White Sport Coat" charted nationwide in 1957, reaching #3. The other hit version was by Johnny Desmond. But It's Marty's version that made the Oldies playlists for the last six decades.
