Saudi Arabias Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has ordered a crackdown on corruption, the latest in a wave of frenetic changes in the kingdom over the past 2-1/2 years. Prince Mohammed says he is determined to remodel his conservative country into a modern state no longer dependent on oil.
As his father, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, has handed the 32-year-old Prince Mohammed more and more power over the past three years, the ambitious young leader has taken on everything from economic reforms to waging war in neighboring Yemen. Here is what you need to know. ROYAL POLITICS
Prince Mohammed capped his rapid rise to power in June this year by replacing his elder cousin Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, widely known as MbN, as crown prince.
A source close to King Salman said MbNs dismissal was in the higher interests of the state because he was incapacitated by morphine and cocaine addiction, a legacy of an assassination attempt that left shrapnel in his body.
Reuters could not independently confirm MbNs addiction issues.
ANTI-CORRUPTION CAMPAIGN
Prince Mohammed tightened his grip on power with the start of the anti-corruption campaign at the weekend, purging the kingdoms political and business elite. Among those arrested were 11 princes.
Many Saudis welcomed the moves as an assault on the endemic theft of public funds by the powerful. U.S. President Donald Trump said those arrested had been milking their country for years but some Western officials expressed unease about the possible reaction in Riyadhs opaque tribal and royal politics. YEMEN
Prince Mohammed launched a military campaign in neighboring Yemen in March 2015. A Saudi-led coalition, acting on an invitation from the internationally-recognized government, has targeted the Iran-aligned Houthi movement in a war which has killed more than 10,000 people.

Word on the web is that this might be linked back to the Las Vegas shooting which is not being mentioned in this article was the final nail for strategic patience.
Furthermore, the people getting arrested in Saudi Arabia are Globalists, ISIS supporters, very Anti-Trump and they are desperate. Watch out for possible false flags by Deep State.
Anyway, can't confirm any of the above, but keep an eye on Saudi Arabia and possible staged attacks. Hopefully the latter is not true.
Actually I am waiting to see how all these corrupt criminals are deeply connected financially to Hillary and Obama, I believe it is coming.
Given the past I don’t blame you.
What the hell is that even supposed to mean? Everybody from the King down milks the country. That's how the place is set up. The House of Saud is a huge dysfunctional family that lucked into control of a giant pool of oil. None of them created anything.
Iran is obviously trying to flank Saudi Arabia by its intervention in Yemen. Shia vs. Sunni and all that. The Saudis are reacting. And will continue to do so. Hopefully, USA stays out!
What’s changed is Hussein gave the Shia nukes and plenty of funds!
Great info and thanks!
I don’t know, but please see post #5.
Perhaps this was the calm before the storm President Trump was talking about?
What happened is that Trump reminded that jumped up bunch of tent dwelling nomads that the only thing standing between the House of Saud and the Iranian army is the US and Israel.
A preview of what will be happening here
Yep to play Saudi Arabia and Iran off of each other.
My understanding is that President Trump told Saudi Arabia, whose economy is bleeding, we can give them a carpet of gold or a carpet of bombs.
The Saudi Government choose the carpet of gold, and now we are watching a mop up operation. Hence, why a missile was fired at the Riyadh Saudi Arabian airport from Yemen. Yemen is a proxy for Iran. Iran did not like seeing their sources being shut down.
Thank God for the 2nd Amendment.
The Saudi Arabian events are pretty interesting. President Trump says he has confidence in the Saudi leadership. Lets hope all goes well.
And possibly the Bushes.
“What happened is that Trump reminded that jumped up bunch of tent dwelling nomads that the only thing standing between the House of Saud and the Iranian army is the US and Israel.”
You said it. Also think about how impotent the Saudi/GCC effort in Yemen has been. All that military hardware and the battlefield right in their backyard and the best they could do was a stalemate. Only with President Trump’s changes in policies to allow some application of US leadership and military power has the tide started to turn. I say that as someone who is over in the area at the moment working with our allies. Interesting to say the least.
Curious to know IF one of those arrested or dead is the prince whose name ends ‘al Talal’. He is considered the Warren Buffet of Saudi Arabia & heavily invests all over the world. Saw him once on Charlie Rose (by accident) & was impressed with his education & his economic knowledge.
I am not sure? It would be nice to get a list.
