Time was when SAC and cargo haulers had all the top spots, people who had to learn how to lead, from a crew, to a lot of crews, to a squadron. Before that, old soldiers, officers, men with another skill, who had a pilot's ticket, and still could fly a desk.

Fighter pilots are as useful as tits on a boar hog when it comes to the drudgery of military administration. And now, you've got Perfumed Princes who are also Obama's Butt Boys.
