And for two years, they were the Tennessee Oilers.
Houston was great as an Oilers fan town, Astros baseball and Rockets basketball too.
Bud Adams sucked as a two faced, greedy owner trying to shake down the tax payers. The last couple of years, I believe that the Oilers were actually throwing games to drive down attendance. Attendance dropped down to less than 5000 towards the end of the drama. Good riddance to Adams.
Are you suggesting that maybe they threw that playoff game against the Bills, when they blew that 35-3 lead?
Bring back Bum Phillips. I know, I know. But hes no more dead than the NFL is to me.
Wow. Did not know that.
Wiki-—
By the start of the 1996 season, support for the Oilers had practically vanished. The Oilers played most of their games before crowds of fewer than 20,000, and they looked even smaller due to the spacious configuration of the Astrodome. The crowds were so quiet that some of the few in attendance, watching on television, or listening on radio could hear all of the action on the field, including play calling, collisions, and the players talking to one another.
Thank you. It is now clear as a bell. Or the nose on my face. Or something.
I wish the public would get off the thoughts of his not being hired for racial reasons, period. It might be he is not a good quarterback and should have considered running or catching after his failures following the one year he had success.
And maybe his playing style didn’t fit the system used in Houston. A third string quarterback carries the clip board, not the ball. He deals with stats rather than planning plays. He doesn’t even have a mike on to hear what the coordinator and coach are discussing.
They don’t want his opinion. And as third string his only chance to get in a game would be to kneel down to finish the game or a half maybe. He is good at that.

Houston loved the Oilers!
Boycott the NFL and despise its weak-kneed fans.
The Texans suck worse than the Oilers...(still think naming the team the Texans is stupid)
I was working in Livingston Texas and the news castes didn’t cut them much slack. The stuff the newscaster said about the Oilers when Warren Moon was their Quarter back. Bronco fan would had beat them up.
When one is in the business of being an entertainer, it seriously diminishes one's value to the entertainment product when one alienates customers and causes a corresponding drop in entertainment-related revenues.
Colin Kaepernick—whatever athletic ability he may have—is perfectly toxic to the NFL and its entertainment product.
During the offseason, many anthem-kneeling NFL players whose contracts are up will discover the harsh truth—that their athletics-based entertainment services will experience a severe downgrade in value. And that is how this issue of selfish and ignorant millionaire spoiled brats will ultimately correct itself...
Nope - just a bunch of overgrown boys who have matured physically but not mentally playing a game in a uniform and now pissing real Americans off to no end. SSDD
