I suspect that college binge drinking is one result of raising the drinking age to 21. Suddenly being in an environment where alcohol is readily available and with no experience on how to drink in moderation is a bad combination for many college students.

Prohibiting all alcohol at “recognized student events” where the students could be monitored just means more off campus drinking and higher risks taken.

I totally agree with you. I went to high school and college when it was still 18. Sure, we may have had our first beer at 16 or 17, but I felt I didn’t have to go to the extremes. I agree that raising that age just makes it more attractive to go against the grain and go hog wild.
