‘Heard Kidde was just going to replace the nozzle.
Just submitted my claim and it looks like they will be sending me a new extinguisher to replace the one I bought in 1984. Thanks for posting the links!
I have the metal ones - although it is tough (and expensive) to keep up with the recommended testing/refills. I probably need to keep up with that more - but once a year seems too much, but then I put it off a year, and then the next....
I just went to look at the ~ 50 yr old one that came with the compound > 40 yr ago.
American-LaFrance dry chemical. The pressure gage needle has fallen off. Unfortunately these things are like matches. Testing is destructive.
I’ll have to look at the unit in the car; it’s MUCH newer.
Bump.......

“...I dont even think Id be able to read the directions while trying to put out a fire. This is good because now I know what to do in case of emergency. I read everything....”
Every once in awhile I need to get off of a ‘bad’ phone call — I say to the caller on the there end of the line: ‘Hold on...hey! Point the extinguisher at the BASE of the flames! I have to go’ followed by ‘CLICK.’
It’s very effective.

Pull the pin.
Aim at the base of the fire.
Squeeze the handle.
Sweep the nozzle over the base of the fire.
We practice it on a live fire every year at my business.
Update. Kidde has replaced all three of my units. The worst part of the whole process is dealing with Fed-x to schedule the return shipment.
