Don't these kids know that Jeremiah Dixon was never a slave owner? He was a STEM graduate from England; they're mad at him for not recognizing the social justice implications of his mathematics and surveying skills.

Maybe that have an animus against French currency.
2.The word "Dixie" refers to currency issued first by the Citizens State Bank (located in the French Quarter of New Orleans) and then by other banks in Louisiana.[11] These banks issued ten-dollar notes,[12] labeled "Dix", French for "ten", on the reverse side. The notes were known as "Dixies" by English-speaking southerners, and the area around New Orleans and the French-speaking parts of Louisiana came to be known as "Dixieland". [5] Eventually, usage of the term broadened to refer to the Southern states in general.
This explanation is confirmed also in "The Story of French". I don't go for the Mason-Dixon line explanation, as the line goes through New Jersey. Also, I was born a Yankee, and I don't want to be called a Mason.
