INCOMES have nothing whatsoever to do with average taxes collected by the IRS per capita!

Why do you keep stating that my numbers were calculated using incomes! It is TAXES collected divided by POPULATION! Very simple to understand!

In your reply to CaliGansta in post #420 of his thread, you stated: <<< FACTS: California residents paid an average $10,408 to the IRS in Fiscal Year 2015, compared to the national average of $10,234. In 2012, it was $7,691 vs. $7,919. In 2011, it was $7,463 vs. $7,632.

In 2015, the median household income in California was $64,500 compared to only $55,775 for the United States.

So, they are paying the about same in federal taxes as the rest of the country, but are much more income than others!

So, that makes you a liar.

>>>

Your argument is based on MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD income as you stated above, and on MEAN taxes paid (IRS-revenue/population). You are simply dividing taxes collected by population (MEAN taxes collected per capita), and asserting that CA is paying less than other states because the MEDIAN income is greater while the MEAN per capita taxes are roughly the same. That ignores the fact that mean household size varies from state to state, and assumes states with larger families (UT, CA, TX) should be paying more. So yes, you ARE mixing means and medians, and yes, it IS rather simple... you just fail to understand the statistics behind your unsupported claims.
