Sad, but true. The GIs were the real heroes in all of this; unfortunately, they got the brunt of the criticism for the War itself, which was a fiasco from the beginning, being run by a bunch of imbeciles in Washington, particularly C-in-Chief Johnson and his administration.
As a young man, I learned to despise the Left as a consequence of this. I had a number of friends who’s names are on the wall. You don’t forget those things. It is a deeply emotional place.
