A couple years ago, I was the “victim” of a hit and run by a semi. I use the word victim with hesitation.

I was in a rental and outside of an inconsequential cut on my hand when I fell into a snowbank trying to climb out of a crushed car, I was uninjured. Except my pride when I fell into the snowbank.

The car was a rental so I had no attachment to it or financial loss and the cop and I agreed that the driver may not have even known he hit me.

It was chalked up to some sort of misadventure and forgotten about.

But, a felony should be investigated and prosecuted if the perpetrator is identified. No go zones, when identified should be clearly labeled so real honest citizens don’t ramble in there by mistake. Law enforcement should be given full and total authority to clean the streets using whatever means necessary until the job is done.

Investigating these crimes, if they are reported at all, puts the police at severe personal risk. It isn’t just a policy issue. It is all about what happens even in this country when the police go into a bad neighborhood and begin asking threatening questions of a hostile, uncooperative population. They best get their business done quickly, and not stay long, if they value their own wellbeing.
