Reminds me of an even bigger slugfest I witnessed in person, although not a WS game. I haven't attended a large number of MLB games in person (and never a World Series game), but when I was young (9 yrs old) I happened to attend one of the most remarkable slugfests in MLB history, at the old Connie Mack Stadium in Philly.
Reds: 19 runs, 25 hits
Phillies: 17 runs, 21 hits
Even though my Phillies lost, it was a rather awe inspiring spectacle (in the all-time Top Ten for combined teams' scoring in a MLB game). Not the game for people who prefer a pitchers' duel !!
REDS 19, PHILLIES 17: Cincinnati Reds at Philadelphia Phillies Box Score, August 3, 1969
Not the game for people who prefer a pitchers’ duel !!

I think it’s only the old baseball “purists” in the sports media and fans that think a pitching duel is interesting.
That really makes for a boring game for the fans and players.
Similar to a soccer game of 1-nil, or an NFL game of 3-0.
