Maybe if they don’t trust “authorities” to do a proper investigation if there’s no public pressure....

Perhaps the kind who realizes that the same police who were careless with security data would botch or whitewash an investigation of themselves?

The police in Britain are currently in full self-destruct mode with political correctness ruling the day and commanders actually declaring that low level crimes will not even be recorded mich less investigated.

The UK papers may have their biases but they are still credible enough to jolt or shame officialdom into action via an expose with certain sensitive information redacted.
