Actually I'm not HR at all. I run the operation and do my own hiring. I do use HR at corporate to to help recruit, vet and then onboard the candidates that I decide upon. But I make the final decisions.
Sounds like you've had some bad experiences. Too bad. There are good companies out there that aren't out to screw their employees.
Anyone that asks what you made at your last job is unethical and out screw you. It's a real red flag.
