Rerun those percentages, after excluding the 50% of Americans who pay no taxes!

I’m a strong proponent that each American should pay some income taxes, even if it’s only the equivalent of a few six packs or carton of cigarettes. Everyone should have some skin in the game because we’re all in this together. Maybe even tie voting rights to the payment of income taxes!

That 50% MUST be required to pay some taxes, even if a mere 2 or 3 percent.

What you said. I firmly believe taxes should be like a tithe, everyone gives 10 % of their income, from any source. This progressive tax is really quite horrible. And it could be tied to voting, pay no tax, no voice.

But just as it is hard to feel on the team if you don't get a uniform, it is the same for taxes, hard to feel like the rest of Americans if you don't pay. We are all Americans, and we all support our government. Is it not a proportionate thing, some support more than others, and that is the way it is now.
