The staggering stupidity of choosing such a stupid, redundant name is breath-taking. Only a culture that enforces female illiteracy, high degrees of consanguinity, and a religion that keeps people, essentially, in the stone age could fail to see the idiocy of that.
And then there’s Egyptian Boutros Boutros-Ghali....
Most likely he had no real last name, and didn’t speak english when he came through immigration. They asked him “Name?” he said “Mohammed”. Last name? He doesn’t understand and just says “Mohammed” again. That’s how you get a “Mohammed Mohammed”.
