Wait, 90% of 43% means that fewer then 4 out of 10 Catalans have declared the desire to be independent of Spain. That’s a terrible basis on which to found a country. I don’t think they’ve thought this through.

Only 30% of our Nation supported independence from Britain yet we seem to have pulled it off...

First of all, I think that's low. Second, how is that an argument for Catalan independence? Read our Declaration of Independence and tell me which of those grievances apply to Catalonia. Catalans are not oppressed. Maybe they pay more than their fair share of taxes but that's what national Parliaments are for, to resolve issues like that. You don't tear a country apart over this.

Look, I recognize that I'm in the minority on this issue here but I do not believe this will end well.

Actually I think that number was lower than that. When I took a course on American History back in college our Professor said only about 10% were in favor of the Revolution. So it was a low number regardless.
