As a 12-year-old boy at Yankee Stadium, he watched as Babe Ruth slid into second base and split his pants.
Now, a mere 91 years later, the actor known as the rigid headmaster who fired Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society and the villain who fell from the Statue of Liberty in Alfred Hitchcocks Saboteur" returned to the Fall Classic to watch a series between the Dodgers and Houston Astros that already has the makings of a Hollywood drama.

Yes, a one-hour episode. It still appears on cable sometimes. The Alfred Hitchcock Hour airs on MeTV these days.
Yes, I remember now. I just looked it up to refresh my memory. It was probably the first “McGuffin” I encountered.
I think that the TV ads for the show showed the Jar interspersed with the Monkey’s Paw, which I remember was a modernization of the story, and a woman screaming. The show was enough to give a kid the creeps, especially with the tympani interludes.
It’s a shame that Netflix has removed Alfred Hitchcock Presents from its selections. I didn’t get to watch very many of them while it was still available. I’ll have to break down and try to find the DVDs like my son-in-law did.
