Wicca was in popular culture in the 1960s.

Where and how does Harry Potter encourage readers to practice the “magic”?
I remember my sister - when we were little - dancing around singing:
Salagadoola mechicka boola
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Put them together and what have you got
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
I guess she is going to hell...

Then you are participating in the very pagan things you are complaining about in the Potter books

What I was trying to point out is that the Harry Potter books are in a different category from traditional fantasy stories in that they encourage readers to practice the magic. Let's suppose that a portion of those who read the Harry Potter books do, indeed, try to practice the "magic" portrayed therein.
A young child points his carefully crafted wand at a nearby rock, reciting the magic words intended to make it rise into the air. "Alarte Ascendare!" he shouts. And.....nothin'. Perhaps he didn't say it quite right?
He tries again. And again. And again, to no avail.
Lesson learned? Magic doesn't exist. He's disillusioned, but a bit wiser.

It’s the act that causes damage, silly. Not the fact that there’s no cartoon-level hocus pocus.

The fact that it was in popular culture in the 60’s is the reason it exploded after the Harry Potter books came out?

What I’m warning against is witchcraft. None of those are witchcraft.

The book series is called “Harry Potter,” and witchcraft is the theme throughout. The effect is that readers often engage in wicca and other witchcraft.

Funny how witchcraft is exactly like communism. No hope of getting any attention unless it pretends to be something else.

I believe we of this generation would do well to forget what we learned as kids from Caspar the ghost cartoons and similar garbage throughout our lives from Hollywood.
We learned to model fantasy from these, not to expect reality as experienced on a daily basis.

What damage could possibly be caused by the act of reciting pseudo-Latin mumbo jumbo?
To: Simon Green
What damage could possibly be caused by the act of reciting pseudo-Latin mumbo jumbo? Good thing they don't use real Latin, them demons really step to it when they hear Latin.

I believe we of this generation would do well to forget what we learned as kids from Caspar the ghost cartoons and similar garbage throughout our lives from Hollywood. Casper the Friendly Ghost is "garbage"? I'll grant you that the Casper cartoons were formulaic to a fault, with subpar animation by the standards of the time, but they weren't that bad.

If the Bible is not true, then the answer to your question is there is no damage that can be done.
But if the Bible is true, then turning to witchcraft is turning away from God.

This isn’t news. The Alt-Left is controlled by Satan. Why WOULDN’T they be into witchcraft and the occult? Things like “sorcery” are condemned in the Bible.

My position is that most of what Hollywood produces is garbage.
The fruit of these products is violence, men victimizing women, other sexual immorality and all forms of disobedience.

For example, there are plenty of unbelievers who go to church. They don’t go to worship, they go for social reasons.
