No it doesn’t. My daughter never acted out anything from Potter

Perhaps parents should be more engaged with their children

IF that is your only reading you are no better than the Islamists.

And which part of the Nible do you hold yourself to? There’s a lot of whirling and killing and drinking and stealing going on in that book

I’ve read all the Harry Potter books. I cannot think of a single instance that encouraged me to try magic. It is fantasy. No one thinks you can walk into a pillar in a train station and come out somewhere else. If you do you have serious mental issues.

If you think Harry Potter is demonic, you’d better stay away from Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, the Chronicles of Narnia, the Brothers Grimm and a host of other classical literature for children.

Bibbity, bobbity, BOO!

I’m curious...do you put up a Christmas tree? Do you dye Easter eggs? Do you carve pumpkins? There are lots of celebrations that are cultural that violate all of your admonishions. Do you go to the movies, drink spirits, eat she’ll fish, work at all on the Sabbath?

I could go on

What I was trying to point out is that the Harry Potter books are in a different category from traditional fantasy stories in that they encourage readers to practice the “magic.”

This doesn’t mean all readers will do it, mr. black and white thinker. It means some readers will. Think in terms of probability.

Nor does it mean the “magic” has to be things that are blatantly and obviously going against the laws of nature. That would be too easy to identify and then reject.

Evil is subtle. And the goal of evil is to turn people away from God.

“IF that is your only reading you are no better than the Islamists.”

That depends on your process of deductive reasoning.

If you accept the premise that the Bible is fiction, then you have a case.

But if you accept the premise that the Bible is true, then you have no case.

God made it simple. Two commandments.

Part of that is avoiding what’s known as legalism, an example of which would be rigidly avoiding normal life to the extent that it puts a dark cloud over everything.

Jesus spoke against the practice of being so rigid that we miss the point of everything. A very important concept to reflect on and widely applicable:

6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

2 Corinthians 3:6

Obviously not everyone does it, but where do you think the wicca craze came from?

where do you think the wicca craze came from?

Spiritualism in the nineteenth century.

The base of it is they want gods they can bargain with and play off against each other.

You don't bargain with God. There is nothing you can give Him that He needs. You ask and He grants according to His will.

Not as you will it, as He wills it. Which is why "nevertheless not my will but Thine be done" is at the heart of Christianity.

Unreal how they can believe in the supernatural on one hand and try to discredit Christians on the other.

but then...progressives...

But if we love God, how can we have an affinity for things God hates?

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mark 12:30

10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil
Psalm 97:10

Better than you

You haven’t answered any of the questions I posed to you

Keep preaching. I’m sure it makes you feel holier

Why did wicca grow so fast in popular culture after 1997?

I do all of those things, except I don’t carve pumpkins any more because I don’t celebrate Halloween and it’s too much of a hassle anyway.
