We spend more to jail our kids than to educate them. It’s time we stop
NATIONAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION ^ | October 24, 2017 | President, NEA. Lily Eskelsen García

Posted on 10/24/2017 5:02:30 PM PDT by mdittmar

In 2015 we voted unanimously at the NEA Representative Assembly to confront institutional racism in our schools. That means looking at the structures and processes that advantage some students and disadvantage others, especially students of color.

Those structures and processes include the harsh disciplinary practices that directly or indirectly push students out of school and into the criminal justice system. We call this the school to prison pipeline.

We’re standing together to shut down the pipeline and bring an end to the unfair imposition of discipline that alienates far too many students from their own schools. NEA is building awareness, educating members and the community and taking action with NEA affiliates, members and allies.

Tom Steyer did the impeach Trump Commercial just b4 the world series tonight.
From another thread
“Oh I am flying out to the east coast on my Learjet with pasta sauce and an extra big juicy plate of delicious nuts for us..! Can’t wait to jump in the pool with those KIDS...!”
Mrs. Tom Steyer
Aaaaa, good find. So Mrs. Steyer, you’re a Pedophile.
Pizzagate emails...

“Steyer is an immensely wealthy NorCal hedge fund manager. The sort who funds all of the progressive causes that plague California.”
Wikipedia has him part owner of prisons...
According to SEC filings, Steyer was at the helm as the hedge fund purchased nearly $90 million of Corrections Corporation of America stock (5.5% of the company’s outstanding shares).
The company’s revenue in 2012 exceeded $1.7 billion. By 2015, its contracts with federal correctional and detention authorities generated up to 51% of its revenues. It operated 22 federal facilities with the capacity for 25,851 prisoners. By 2016, Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) along with Geo Group were running “more than 170 prisons and detention ceneres”. CCA’s revenues in 2015 were $1.79bn.

Probably does not want to deport all the illegal inmates.

No, but I’ve done battle with the teacher’s union. They represent “educators”...not children nor their taxpayer parents.

Defund the NEA and we can begin to reverse its horrible damage to American family and that will keep kids out of jail.

You should try teaching for a while. You obviously feel you know a lot about it. And we could use more conservatives. As I have said before, a large part of our problem is that conservatives don’t teach, leaving the field open to be completely controlled by liberals.

How 'bout eliminating the behavior that alienates far too many students from our civilized society.

The first step really is to be able to fire teachers for failing to teach the subject or for bad behavior. Get the stupid and demented out of the classroom and things will improve greatly.

I went to Catholic school for three years, after 9 years in the public schools.

This was back in the 1940s and the public schools had better teachers-——some of the nuns were just high school grads themselves,no degrees.

I found those three years VERY easy.

I went to public school after eight years of Catholic school. This was back in the 70s and I pretty much cut four years of high school, showing up for the tests on which I did fine.

I could probably homeschool or teach in a charter school, but I wouldn't last 5 minutes in a PC/RAT indoctrination center, nor would I even set foot into one.

I'm of the opinion we should shut down the schools and rent the buildings out to people who know how to run an education facility, and teach young minds important, relevant subjects.

It’s because those like Her that decided that “education” meant left-wing programming and brainwashing - the “education” system and single-mother families is what breeds those who fill our jails.

The primary purpose of jail is to protect honest, hard-working people from those who are not.
Anything else is a bonus.

Yes, I know you are deeply invested in justifying the massive chickening out in this regard.

I'm glad you recognize this. Now recognize this: if you couldn't handle it, you aren't qualified to fix it.

Oh Really!

I never said I "couldn't handle it". They would quickly run me out because I wouldn't put up with their abusive union tactics, their child-sexualization and socialist-indoctrination agendas.

Who ever suggested the government "school" system could be "fixed"? That would require a total rip-out as I suggested. There is nothing salvageable there except for the buildings and the incoming Kindergartners.
