I can see why the Japanese would be soiling their undies these days.Ditto the South Koreans...and the residents of Guam for that matter.

It’s a cryin’ darn shame the Philippines and US allowed Clark AB to deteriorate to what it is today.

It would be an EXCELLENT second base for B-1B and B-52 bombers (has the runway size). And also is strategically positioned to give China great pause on their South China Sea ambitions.

Half of our deployed bombers AND fighters from the Pacific Command should be there.

Like the good old days...

China better control what goes on in its theater of operations. If NKOR attacks anybody it will be China’s fault because they failed to control their mad-dog ally.
China better not just let it happen.

I would like to see the Japanese Parliament debate declaring war on North Korea. I would wager that no one in North or South Korea and especially not China wants Japanese Army boots on the ground in that part of the world. Too many horrible memories of what happened the last time Japan’s military invaded mainland Asia.

I think that up to this time, we have assumed that the decision to go to war rests with us. We would be the ones to make that call.

And as history has demonstrated time and time again, that decision may not be ours to make, or in our favored time. It might be forced upon us.

If Japan or another nation takes action, or other circumstances arrived, we may find ourselves in a December 8th, 1941 situation.

The decision by President Trump to allow the US Air Force to recall 1,000 retired pilots was at the request of SECDEF Mattis. The Air Force has said they are not going to request the pilots be recalled just yet - but they have the authority now to legally do so.

This could very well affect me - as I am a retired Air Force pilot. I doubt I would be thrown back into the cockpit, as it would take many months to train me back to that operational level. But rated pilots fill many position, including working at Air Operations Centers and so many other jobs that require you to be an aviator. I can easily foresee the Air Force filling those positions by old men like me so that the young bucks can be sent back to fly the line.

Our strategic nuclear bombers are going back on alert - the first time since 1991.

Our military is making other moves to posture us for war.

Things could get "interesting."

We should help Japan to become a nuclear nation. That would put some pink panties in a wad....er, yellow panties.

This will be China’s blow-back for North Korea. A militarily resurgent, nuclear-armed Japan.

well, if the Japanese are that upset about it, maybe they should do something instead of sitting around waiting for the US to act

Then take responsibility for your own defense. I mean Japan has been flailing at 10 plus years of “fiscal stimulus” that has failed to life their economy. How about try some “military stimulus”?
