I agree 99%.
It’s not that a GMO plant is going to turn into some weird mutant that attacks you in your sleep, it’s the other hidden effects that people seem unaware of.
1. With many GMOs, the whole scheme is about making farmers dependent on the producer for the seed, the herbicides, etc.
2. The genes that make the crop plants resistant to herbicides or whatever can and do escape into the wild. So then you are breeding super weeds that are also resistant to the herbicides.
3. The reduction in genetic diversity (which has already been a serious problem before GMOs) is likely to accelerate. This is generally not a good thing. This is one area where DIVERSITY is a strength. When some disease comes through and kills off all of your corn (or whatever) because they are all identical clones, that is a recipe for famine. Having some diversity in the mix is a bit of insurance that some reasonable percentage will survive.
