Perhaps it was found in a dictionary as the phonetic pronunciation of “Antoine”. Anyway, I don’t blame Trump for stumbling over the name of this fallen soldier. “La” implies the feminine in French. “Le” would be correct for the masculine. Assuming the parent (or parents) of the deceased were able to tell the difference at birth, their boy should have been called “Le David”. Frankly (no pun intended), if I were he, I would have changed my name to just “David”.

As a Gold Star Mom, I couldn’t agree more. I would not have been offended in the least by anything that was alleged to have been said by President Trump. I have been most appreciative from inauguration day on of the respect that Trump shows our military.
