The Hidden Forces That Promote Conspiracy Thinking About Mass Killing
Ammoland ^ | 20 October, 2017 | Dean Weingarten

Posted on 10/23/2017 4:53:18 AM PDT by marktwain

The explosion of conspiracy theories accompanying the mass killing in Las Vegas can be seen all over the Internet.

The theories and their rationals range from the absurd, such as “a 64-year-old man could not have moved 10 bags up to his room alone” to somewhat sophisticated analysis of cell phone recordings that claim to find evidence of two shooters.

I have not seen any convincing evidence that requires a conspiracy to explain the mass murder.  I use Occam's razor to winnow out the theories. That is, when given two explanations, the preference should be given to the simpler, less complicated version.

For any incident, an imaginative mind can create an infinite variety of logically consistent explanations. But only one is true. It usually is the least complicated.

For example, I might walk out the door without my cell phone. The simple explanation is that the human mind is complicated and imperfect, and I forgot to put my cell phone in a pocket.

A complicated explanation would be that unknown government agents distracted me with fake bird sounds and a loud car outside of my door, just as I was about to pick up my phone. They knew the timing required by monitoring my movements though the camera in my computer. They needed me to leave the phone to access it so as to substitute a phone with sophisticated tracking devices embedded in it.

There have always been conspiracy theories. The human mind is designed to notice patterns and assign causal relationships. It works for us most of the time.

There was a battery charger plugged into the wall of the killer’s hotel room.

That battery charger was military issue. It only worked with a type of battery used by the military for communications equipment.

They never found that communications equipment.

Is that a conspiracy?

there was a later statement that all chargers were found to work with all the cell phones paddock had in the room. there were no discrepancies - approx a week or so back.

Nobody is saying that all CTs are bogus, did you read the entire piece?

But the far-out crazy-ville CTs are used by the powers that be to discredit every CT, and thereby provide cover to the government when they do something truly evil like Fast and Furious, because once “CT” is attached to ANY story, reporters won’t go near it.

Feeding and promoting bogus far-out loonytoon CTs (like the new bogus Hooters story) is just helping the Deep State get away with actual CTs by discrediting them all, bogus and actual alike.

We hate chaos because it means lack of control and order. Conspiracy theories provide an overlay of order over otherwise chaotic events. We can deal better with a conspiracy because it is possible to prevent a reoccurrence. When it’s just some random demented guy we can become a victim at anytime. The liberals solve the problem in a different way. They believe gun control will protect them from chaos.

only a FOOL believes yo can win over thelong haul playing video poker...
but you can make a lot of money dealing weapons and contraband to criminals or helping atf/fbi with sting operations
and then losing lots to casinos who help launder the money taking a skim off the top...
THE ENTIRE STORY IS BULLSHIT FROM START TO FINISH
there were multiple shooters as evidenced by the wounds sustained where bullets enterd horizontally and not at an agle fro 32 floor...

campos and schuck are scripted by the hotel and the fbi... campos doesnt even look like campos and looks like he gained 40 lbs .. isolated to be coached and scripted...

I could move 50 AR-15s up to any room in any LV hotel in a week. Everybody uses luggage carts, they don’t hand carry their baggage. AR-s break into two pieces that will fit into standard luggage.

Even beyond that, folks carry big Igloo coolers and other odd items up to rooms on luggage carts. Folks have catered parties where food boxes are stacked up on the luggage carts. Conventioneers take their folded-up convention displays up to their rooms. This happens all day, every day.

It would be NO problem to haul 50 AR-15s up to a room. And the high-rollers can use the service elevators, where there are no cameras. But even so, a shooter could move all that luggage (containing the guns) in plain sight, because well-packed luggage carts moving all around is such a totally normal part of the casino picture. Parking is in the rear, so the carts just go from the attached garage to the elevators to the room.

That said, I am sure the casino has plenty of footage of Paddock on the ground floor and garage and around the elevators, where there are cameras. (There are no cameras in the halls or stairwells.) The big conspiracy here is the MGM trying to duck their liability in a mega-massive negligence lawsuit which is coming.

And add to it the revolving door between the LVMPD and casino security, where police brass take VERY lucrative jobs with the casinos upon retirement. Sheriff Lombardo, for example, has a big financial stake in protecting the casinos as much as he can, (changing and blurring the timeline, etc), if he wants to get that million-dollar “head of security” gig with one of the casinos after he retires.

the introduction of a “fact” (that isn’t true) like the military cell phone charger canard is another gift of the conspiracy theorists. Where those “facts” come from could probably explain a lot about who it is that wants to destabilize our country.

Yes, the real question is where Paddock got the approx. 5.5 million that he laundered into 5 million in the casinos.

Thank you. It was a topic amongst the conspiracy sites.

The casino interest angle explains a great deal about this investigation, and why the story is losing its “legs”.

Billions of dollars at stake, and the stake holders are high level players in media and government with lots of reasons, lots of money, and lots of “juice” to tamp down this story.

Good points on your part.

Lack of a manifesto also works for a shooter seeking “immortality”. It keeps the conspiracy mill ginning along.

He probably did “earn” 5 million by churning 5.5 million through the casinos.

The real question is where he got the 5.5 million that he laundered in Las Vegas.

Agreed. That is the question.

Yes, “immortality” can be a factor, especially with a high-IQ killer. I believe the same motive might have been at work with the pilot of the missing Malaysia Air jet.

Nothing survives history like a good mystery, witness Amelia Earhart.

No doubt the story is being tamped down. LVMPD and the casinos work hand in glove. Police brass routinely are rewarded with lucrative casino security gigs. They all want the story to go away.

(I do NOT rule out a “Professor Raoul X” who motivated and weaponized Paddock, then shot him and left him as a patsy before disappearing down the no-cameras hall to the no-cameras stairwell.)

http://westernrifleshooters.blogspot.com/2011/01/bracken-professor-raoul-x.html

BTW, I wrote a story called “Is the NFL ready for a stadium attack on a Las Vegas scale” and none of the “respectable” conservative websites would touch it. I’ll post it on WRSA instead.

Ignorance is bliss.

Equating his decision to attempt to murder thousands of people to his simply forgetting his cell phone is just as big a conspiracy theory as those that think he may have conspired with others.

We are all trying to understand the limited evidence we've been permitted to access. The investigative teams involved have not exactly been transparent with their findings, nor have they provided any real conclusions. None of it sits well with our preservation instincts. Forgive us for being human.

Pls see my reply to MartTwain just now. I do NOT rule out a 2nd person in the suite with Paddock, who might have offed him and left him to be the sole patsy.

The article is not making the comparison your think.

It is showing that it is easy to come up with complicated, convoluted scenarios for simple situations. For every simple explanation, there are an infinite variety of more complicated explanations, all of them internally consistent.

It is not the LVMPD that is tamping down this story. It is the FBI, whose special agent in charge looms over the nervous Sheriff Lombardo like a dark cloud and orders “Don’t go there!” when the sheriff tries to answer a reporter’s question. It is obvious that multiple entities are working together to conceal the truth - and that is the definition of a conspiracy.

It can’t be ruled out. But what conspiracy? Paddock’s islamic radicalization? It can’t be ruled out. And we saw after Orlando that the PC-FBI tried to hide Mateen’s islamic motivation, his pledges to ISIS, etc. This is a fact that we do know. I don’t trust “Faking Bogus Investigations” at all. Zero.

My theory is that Paddock purchased the guns, rented the motel room and set everything up, but was not going to be the person or persons doing the actual shooting. Four shooters could have done a heck of a lot more damage. Two shooting and two reloading or moving into the shooting positions when the other guy would empty his mag. But the shooters never showed up or got scared away by the security guard and maintenance guy. Paddocks van had explosives in it, so maybe he was supposed to blow it up at the police station or something as a diversion and then the shooters would have more time to do their thing. Law enforcement may have been the intended target and the people at the concert were just collateral damage after the plan went south.

The problems are coming from the evidence not fitting the LEO’s severed case of tunnel vision. It sorely messes up their story that Campos was shot before the mass shooting. Paddock wasn’t ready to execute his plan, whatever it was. He was still putting up cameras and using the concert noise as cover for the drilling. When Campos arrived, he and all hell broke loose. Is it wrong to question the fed’s story? The concert was on the last song so would be breaking up within minutes, so who/what was the real target? No one person can fire all those weapons at one time so were there others involved? Bottom line, this was never Paddock’s plan.
