The explosion of conspiracy theories accompanying the mass killing in Las Vegas can be seen all over the Internet.
The theories and their rationals range from the absurd, such as “a 64-year-old man could not have moved 10 bags up to his room alone” to somewhat sophisticated analysis of cell phone recordings that claim to find evidence of two shooters.
I have not seen any convincing evidence that requires a conspiracy to explain the mass murder. I use Occam's razor to winnow out the theories. That is, when given two explanations, the preference should be given to the simpler, less complicated version.
For any incident, an imaginative mind can create an infinite variety of logically consistent explanations. But only one is true. It usually is the least complicated.
For example, I might walk out the door without my cell phone. The simple explanation is that the human mind is complicated and imperfect, and I forgot to put my cell phone in a pocket.
A complicated explanation would be that unknown government agents distracted me with fake bird sounds and a loud car outside of my door, just as I was about to pick up my phone. They knew the timing required by monitoring my movements though the camera in my computer. They needed me to leave the phone to access it so as to substitute a phone with sophisticated tracking devices embedded in it.
There have always been conspiracy theories. The human mind is designed to notice patterns and assign causal relationships. It works for us most of the time.

The fact that the shooting has all but disappeared from media coverage does give one pause, though.
Conspiracies have existed throughout human history. Goverments throughout history have also repeatedly lied to people. In the wake of entirely stupid explanations for Paddock wealth like he made it playing video poker, it is not a conspiracy theory to imagine other ways to account for his money. That is, of course, using the facts that are currently available.
Benghazi was considered a conspiracy theory, Fast and Furious was considered a conspiracy theory, Clinton cash was considered a conspiracy theory... as it turns out our government was lying out its ass.
There is now a big one ginning up concerning Hooters.
Doug Poppa, ex cop and casino security pro in Las Vegas, is trying to head off a new fake news conspiracy story. There are enough real mysteries surrounding the LV massacre without discrediting them with bogus conspiracy theories like the non-existent Hooters “second massacre” story. The truth is that ambulances were held back from the concert ground at Tropicana (which is by Hooters Casino) and this location became a casualty collection point. The fact that ambulances were lined up at Tropicana is now being spun into a second massacre taking place inside Hooters. This did not happen. Also read the linked NPR/Morning Edition piece from October 2nd, based on eye witnesses at Hooters.
Let’s talk instead, about the motivations of these hoards of people who spend their time “debunking”...
The official narrative may actually be true, but trotting out the weakest possible, and thoroughly disproven (4th floor shooter) examples; and then claiming that this “proves no conspiracy” doesn’t instill confidence in the debunker’s methods, or their intentions.
There are questions that are not being answered.
See #4. The PTB love whacky far out CTs like “the hidden second massacre at Hooters” because these bogus CTs discredit actual mysteries/possible conspiracies, and permit TPTB to get away with them, since reporters won’t touch ANY of them.
The article says Internet investigations are useful, and one reason conspiracy theories are popular is that we have seen real conspiracies.
The fact that the Las Vegas Massacre has dropped off the radar does make me wonder.
It may be as simple as Vegas interests communicating to others in the establishment media universe that this story is “not helpful”.

I’m probably one of the perps but I still like that article, especially the psychological underpinnings of the need for conspiracy theory.
I was just thinking about this. It’s like it has been dropped from the news cycle. This is abnormal. Any time an event like this has occurred there is some coverage until the pertinent questions get answered. Are we just going to pretend like it didn’t happen? Surely they now have some idea of motive at this point? “Something” new to report. Anything.

Unfortunately, there are many who do not want the truth, many who want to create lies to advance their agenda, and many who want to control access to truth to gain power.
Information is power. Disinformation is a way to diffuse and destroy that power.
One of the largest mass killings in US history, occurs at one of the most camera surveilled location, at a time in history when people have the most ability to record live events, hundreds of different angles on record, yet the police are not releasing any media or records as proof to their crazy guy flipped narrative. The changing story line, missing witness and lack of released surveillance data is whats feeding the conspiracies. There is more to the story, but with endless possibilities in the vacuum of evidence the police and the hotels are withholding, its fruitless to speculate. But one thing, the hotel is a big problem in all the confusion , by wanting to force a legal narrative so as diminish their liability for law suits, ( the security guard coached testimony on Ellen show a business partner with the hotel for example ) the hotel is also be hiding the money laundering going on with paddock in their casino, its all too fishy and fishy leads to conspiracy .
Do you realize how difficult it is to collate hundreds of recordings and try to fit them into a coherent picture?
The police did start to release details. They were repeatedly hammered with conspiracy theories as other facts emerged that showed even more detail and contradicted early assumptions.

No casino is going to give some kind of “super player” comps to encourage them to keep coming back and taking out millions more than they bring in.
Much more likely to block them and ban them from the casino, as they do with successful card counters.

The MGM trying to avoid responsibility/liability is probably the biggest conspiracy going. For example, Jesus Campos canceling Hannity, disappearing, then appearing on the Ellen D. show, when Ellen is under contract by MGM, with her own slot machines in MGM properties, ads for MGM by her, etc. She was just a cheerleader, asking no real questions, not even about the shifting timeline etc.
Most folks assume all casino hotels are running cameras everywhere, all the time. They are NOT. This is the case only on the casino floors and some offices, the lobby, etc. There were NO cameras in the stairwells or halls of the MBC, only at the elevator banks.
Collaborators could have used the stairwells and halls to move freely without being recorded. A Paddock confederate could have offed him (leaving him as the patsy) and escaped totally unseen immediately after the stop of the ten-minute massacre.
Please read Steyn’s “A theory of the case,” it comes the closest to my thinking. The shooter (purportedly Paddock) skipped firing at a mostly-minority “urban” concert. Why? Perhaps not to obscure “the method is the message,” that is, semi-auto rifles are too evil to allow civilians to purchase.
