After performing the national anthem at Friday night's Brooklyn Nets game, singer Justine Skye took a knee in the latest installment of the ongoing demonstration.
Skye knelt specifically during the line "and the home of the brave," according to reports.
However, according to the Associated Press, the demonstration wasn't well received among fans. Skye reportedly received more boos than cheers for her stunt.
Shortly after her performance at the Nets' home opening game, Skye posted on Instagram a clip of her kneeling with the caption, "Got a bit shaky at the end.. was pretty uneasy about singing the anthem and probably won't ever be invited to sing it again but I had to take a knee for the opening game in my city and let my voice be heard. We will not be silenced #blacklivesmatter."
The singer's actions come after weeks of national controversy over a handful of NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem in protest. President Trump has repeatedly voiced his disdain for the act.
Never heard of this person. is she one of the Dixie Chicks,or related to the silly woman who wears cowboy hats?
Cameraman should have pointed the camera at the flag when she pulled those antics.
They don’t want their problems fixed; they want income streams in perpetuity without any input from non-blacks regarding their irresponsible breeding or lack of education and work ethic. They want to be maintained in luxury as livestock - nothing more.
I view these tantrums as evidence they’ve realized they mean nothing - even to the first (half) black president of the US. BLM and co. started as Obama’s presidency was winding down and these people had watched eight more years of immigrants come in and surpass them in every measure.
The best manifestation that they knew nobody cared was when they had to spill onto highways and into shopping malls where the People That Matter could be inconvenienced/ confronted; where else would these mutants ever meet a working person? I’m not even kidding; a friend who works in the Northeast Kwazulu-Natal Preserve (Newark NJ) describe how the company would instruct employees to telecommute when the bipedal hyenas were acting up - and the preserve suffered a “day without taxpayers” (losing all the money they may have spent there, and certainly forcing companies to hasten their “Plan B” contingencies to exit).
Maybe it is time for us to give up the slave culture.

Maybe it is time for us to give up the slave culture. Praise our ancestors who suffered through it, become thankful for their sacrifices while in it and stiffen our backs in dedication to taking advantage of what they only hoped for. We owe it to those who feared even to think of the opportunities we now have.
The old culture of servicing must be replaced with a culture of thriving. It has to be us who accomplish this; it cannot be anyone else. It will not be achieved with programs, cliches, marches, protests, demonstrations or demands. And it cannot be achieved through kneeling down or burning down. Neither raised fists nor bowed heads will lift us up.
We need to accept full and complete responsibilities for the condition of our families. If it is not our fault, then we are still slaves. If our children are not protected by us, then they also are slaves.
“We need to accept full and complete responsibilities for the condition of our families.”
From that much good would spring - part of that is providing for said families, instead of having “massa” provide all. Then they’d truly be free...
It's ugly...
We have a similar problem with Hispanics and their culture of ‘looking up to ‘elites’ with more respect then their elites have earned. It's why they constantly default to dictators...That has to change if they want to be Americans... even if Hollywood and cheap labor exploiters love the trait...
I believe the Hispanic issue resolves itself in one generation - as the first generation raised here attains an education level unknown in their family tree up to that point. The poorly-educated ones that arrive here are in awe of people they deem “educated”, but their offspring will be much more analytical.
FWIW, I’ve noticed that dynamic you describe within the Hispanic community itself - manual laborers with little education are in awe of Hispanics that wear a suit to work (regardless of what type of work they actually do).
Barack Hussein Obama was just here in NJ campaigning for rich white guy running for governor; I believe one of the take-aways for the Dems from 2016 was that blacks are realizing they are pawns of rich white libs, used for their own ends without any real concern for blacks. Blacks could’ve delivered PA, WI, and MI for Hillary and didn’t, and that dynamic MUST be reversed for Dems to remain competitive. This NJ race was supposed to be a shoe-in for the Dem, but Obama’s appearance leads me to believe they may be concerned; another FReeper reminded me that he beat a black Dem in the primary, and that may have caused some damage.
Think of white liberal elites as ‘plantation owners’ and the blacks who prop them us as.... dependent slaves and it all make sense.

Sure - and they need each other. The former need the votes of the latter, and the latter need the “free” sh!t from the former (meaning they need the while lib elites to direct OUR resources and earnings to them).
