The day after Ted Cruz posted a reference to conspiracy theories claiming he is the Zodiac Killer on Twitter, an IP tied to the U.S. Congress made edits writing out “Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer” in articles related to the Kennedy Assassination.

A Twitter account that tracks Wikipedia edits made from IP addresses in Congress first picked up the edits. The IP address, originating from the House of Representatives, started the series of edits at the entry for “solicitor,” with the next five edits being related to the assassination of John F. Kennedy.  The final edits in the series were related to Jack Ruby, the killer of Kennedy’s assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald.

Yeah, Ted was born in 1970, by then the Zodiac had finished all his killings.

What a load of crock.

I’m sorry, but I can’t make any sense out of the headline. Can anyone help me understand what they’re talking about? Some kind of internet code designed by Congress? Wha?

I think it is an anonymous Congressional twitter account that the critters can post to. Of course, only for hit and run smear jobs like this apparently.

I don’t know for certain.

I think it’s an older (during campaign) internet joke/meme....about cRuz being the ZK.

I guess someone at House of Reps thinks it’s funny to keep it going.

Look up Heriberto Seda.

First saw this on “Forensic Files”, called “catching the Zodiac” or close to that.

according to last night’s American Horror Story, the Zodiac Killer was a group of women under the influence of Andy Warhol-shooter Valerie Solanas, who directed their actions from the Matteawan State Hospital for the Criminally Insane.

Every computer connected to a network has what's called an "Internet Protocol" IP address assigned to it. Think of it as a network version of your mailing address.

You can uniquely identify where that IP address comes from.

So a plain language version of this would be, "Wikipedia Articles were changed to say 'Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer' by somebody on a computer owned by the US House of Representatives".

(Note: that is not 100% technically correct, but it is close enough for somebody who doesn't speak computer geek)

Thanks! Now it makes sense.

And I'm a software developer with lots of internet experience. For that reason I am tired (as usual) and perhaps that's why I couldn't make sense of it. I read it over five or six times, and just couldn't get it to gel in my mind.

After your explanation, when I read it over, I can't see how I could have not understood it.

the best way to hide something is to put it in plain sight.

guess that works with computer stuff too.

Staffers in Congress having fun trashing Wikipedia pages and Sen. Cruz, but somebody caught them with their hands in the cookie jar.

But I just watched him butcher Bernie Sanders on live TV. It was horrible watching him gut that old Communist but I couldn’t look away.
