Chastity and prudence are features of any well-run life, irrespective of Calvinism. Chastity is the virtue of rightly ordering one’s sexual faculties according to one’s station in life. Prudence is the virtue of thinking things through and making smart choices according to the situation.
In Vice President Pence’s situation, “chastity” means he’s not going to pursue intimate relationships with women other than his wife. “Prudence” means that, among other things, he has to consider the fact that he’s being watched at all times, and that he could be the target of trolls.
Chastity simply means that the chaste don’t participate in extracurricular sexual relationships. Prudence is okay, but I think it’s a sad commentary that only having your wife with you can you remain chaste.
