And everyone forgets, the first hundred years of our nation the Brits waited for any opportunity to destroy our republic. It wasn’t until they could find a soft headed president like Wilson and harness our power for their goals that we suddenly had a “special friendship”.
Even in WWII the Brits were more concerned about preserving their empire than killing off the Nazis and Jap nations. Our men in the China/Burma/India theater were very convinced of this. So were our guys in the Mediterranean.
