President Trump said Friday hes decertifying the Iranian nuclear deal forged under the Obama administration, but stopped short of ending the international agreement, instead giving Congress 60 days to take a tougher approach toward Tehrans lawless behavior.
We will not continue down a path whose predictable conclusion is more violence, more terror and the very real threat of Irans nuclear breakout, Mr. Trump said. Iran is not living up to the spirit of the deal.
In an address from the White House, the president also said hes directing the Treasury Department to sanction Irans Revolutionary Guard Corps over its support of terrorism in the Middle East, calling it a long overdue step.
History has shown the longer we ignore a threat, the more dangerous that threat becomes, the president said.
Mr. Trump, who has called the 2015 agreement signed by President Obama a horrible deal and threatened to rip it up, instead decided reluctantly to try to beef up the restrictions on Tehran by going to Congress.

Not by Congress.
I believe President Trump is sending that message to Congress and Iran.
The Iran Deal should have been submitted to the Senate as a treaty requiring two-thirds approval. Instead, thanks to Corker and the rest of the GOPe, it was submitted as an agreement to the Senate requiring two-thirds to reject it. Obama turned the approval process on its head and the Reps helped him do it.
I have been racking the Trump WINS
Noticed a growing intensity in both significance and frequency of the WINS
My theory is that Trump is using the Cloward-Piven strategy in reverse
That is the rate of WINS and the diverse nature of the WINS overwhelms the opposition
Before they have their focus groups...Delphi sessions...assessments....polling etc ...Trump hits them with another
Take the DACA for example...Pelosi and Schumer heard what they wanted to hear.
Trump then comes out with what he wants.
so then what improvement was/will be made if any?!
Sort of like Obamacare. The Reps all voted against the Iran Deal when they knew it didn't count. Now they must go on the record as to whether the deal should be kept in place or not and that the sanctions should be restored. I suspect you are correct. There will be a number of Reps who will want to keep the Deal as it is.
so what can we say was accomplished today? what Obamacare-type maneuver can Trump do if Congress doesn’t do anything?
Thank you! It didn’t seem like you... but just reading words without tone of voice can be misleading, especially to people (ahem...myself) who may have a touch of aspergers....(sp?).
Apologies!
In for a penny, in for a pound. If we’re gonna use some nukes, might as well do it in stereo.
>My theory is that Trump is using the Cloward-Piven strategy in reverse<
Ha!
I hope so. America will be great again and in sbort order.
He out alinskied all of them, that’s for sure.
I’ve waited for years for someone to destroy the with their own M.O.
He does.
But as long as he keeps on ignoring their idiocy, I'll do the same.
I read him daily. I think he’s wrong about Paddock, though. It’s not cut and dried at all, and IMHO he was doing a sting operation for feebs and got offed by the actual shooters.
His understanding of what’s going on in the Middle East is better than anything else on the internet. And how President Trump is doing things.
Did you see his threads on McMaster? And to think I used to read Cernobitch and Posobiec - gag - they sure revealed themselves.
Winning.
Unless it’s a legal, constitutional treaty I don’t want them to act. Corker used the weasel word “deal” to describe an agreement among many nations to which the US became beholden. That’s a treaty, and it requires 2/3 approval by the constitution. He can call it a bargain, a deal, an agreement, an understanding, or any other synonym they want, but such a signatory document is a treaty by constitutional standards, and I resent Corker and Obama ignoring law to enable Obama to transfer 150 billion to his islamo-fascist friends in iran, and to stick us with Iran in a few short years becoming a nuclear threat to us and israel
I agree and also have no clue what handing the Iran deal to Congress is about. I have a lot of limitations in understanding the machinery of DC stuff. Interesting about Bannon and Weinstein, he’s an intelligent man but not really suited for gov. work, imho.
I watched Gen. Kelly’s press conference and it was great.

“...Trump makes the decisions...”
True! In my own life, my husband will listen to the opinions and input of our adult daughters and their husbands; however, he will always make his own decision in the end. I have no doubt that President Trump operates in a similar manner and makes his own decisions.
BRAVO Mr. PRESIDENT!!!!!!
I figure when he sees JIvanka, he sees children. He doesn’t do what children tell him to do.
“And Bannon isn’t there to tell him what to say!!!!!!!!!”
Before the President had even spoken, the drama queens over at Breitbart had a flashing RED headline, saying something like, “President Keeps Iran Deal.”
Total BS and misleading.
While I greatly appreciate Steve Bannon’s passionate determination to rid our government of liberalism in all of its ugly forms, and his war to oust the traitorous never-Trumpers in Congress, I am fed up with his paranoia every time President Trump makes a decision and his being so quick (via Breitbart) to suggest that Trump is going back on his promises.
He’s like a cult leader over at Breitbart News and everything he says is gospel.
Well, this is the same man that told 60 Minutes that the President’s biggest political mistake was firing the disgraced, former FBI director, James Comey. So obviously, he’s not always right.
It’s stunning how much this President is accomplishing with such little support from Congress.
This week has been a great week for him and for our country.
From decertifying the Iran deal and pulling out of ONESCO, our President has accomplished more in the Middle East than most presidents to in years.
What a gambit. He’s gonna force these idiots in the Senate to defend their vote on Iran. I can’t see how Trump loses this one.
