I was thinking more of hunting buddies as working together to deal with all problems, including feral threats. Also, I don't think game will get exhausted. They may switch from venison to squirrels and bunnies, but those rodents reproduce like rabbits. Hunters won't run out.
in the early 1800s what you imagine might have been true, but not with millions competing for the same rabbits and squirrels. Dream on. Reality sucks.
