The one constant when it comes to the Elites is their supreme belief that we are all dumb as dog poop. For years they coopted conservatism as a convenient treat to feed to the dogs of the base when the base gets out of control. Along comes Trump and bam!!. Even if Trump was not everyone’s ideal candidate or not close to a perfect conservative, he performed the invaluable service of tearing off the masks of the elite GOP and showing everyone who they truly are and what they truly stand for and against (the forgotten man/woman).
But the elite thought for sure that if they tanked Trump’s agenda the base would automatically blame Trump. Without any thought or contemplation of something else being at work the base would simply say: “Trump promised X, we did not get X, we are abandoning Trump and going back to the McCain wing.” The McCain wing would be waiting saying “see, we told you so.” We, the dumb as dog poop base would thank them and feel shamed for not believing them in the first place.
This is a typical, Rovian move. Rove and his effing white board sits there and says, “see, so and so can’t win and to prove it, I will sabotage him (but you will forget and not account for the fact that I sabotaged him).” Well Mr. Rove, meet Mr. Bannon, he is coming for your arse and taking your donors with him.
