You see, if you were properly educated you would understand that your right to speak freely, protected within the first amendment, only ensures that the government cannot lock you up for what you say or write (even if it is as stupid as this column is). Which means that you would have never written anything this stupid. You would have known that first amendment DOES NOT and NEVER DID prevent a private company (like your employer for example) from punishing you for saying stupid and/or offensive things or really, engaging in any activity that may cost your boss a nickel he does not feel like losing.

The beautiful thing about this nation is that even if an employer fires you for excessive dumba$$ery or you decide one fine morning that you have had enough of whitey’s oppression and quit, you are free to find an employer that embraces idiocy. Like the DNC. Or New York Times. Maybe even the Seattle Seahawks...
