Sounds like it might have been a domestic case.

Lets see what facts leak out.

It should take months to find a motive.

Earlier this evening, Texas Tech Police made a student welfare check. Upon entering the room, officers found evidence of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Officers brought the suspect to the police station for standard debriefing. During this time, the suspect pulled a gun and shot an officer in the head. The officer is deceased. The suspect fled on foot and is currently still at-large. Texas Tech University campus is on lockdown.

Or not

“Texas Tech officials tell us they brought a student in for a welfare check, once at the PD building, the student pulled a gun and shot the officer, killing him. Then the student fled.”

Someone (parents?) called the campus police to go to the shooters room on a welfare check. The police found drugs in his room and took him to the station. While there, the student pulled a gun and shot the officer in the head, killing him. The lesson: Never trust a drug user.

The cause seems clear enough at this point - a crazy student on drugs and a campus police department not as efficient as the one at Georgia Tech.

Can anyone post the student’s picture so we’ll know him when we see him and know what to do?

From http://www.kcbd.com/story/36556988/ttu-police-officer-shot-killed-at-ttpd-headquarters-swat-team-searching-for-suspect;

Not I think it's worth much, but a "live" youtube link to an amateurish film crew outside the TTU Police headquarters, people calling themselves Cyber Command;

correction---

They may not be outside campus police headquarters. The crew had been there but may have moved -- I had to shut the link down then re-open it, and haven't been able to figure yet what/where/why/who for certainty-- these guys are not very professional..

Now it seems like it may have changed back to a location where the suspect is, within a building???

...or he was not cuffed and pulled an officer’s gun. Either is not good.

That is true. He was a dope head — You are likely correct. He has the officers gun. In Texas those typically are .357.

The local Fox station seems to have a name, while the slightly fresher story on the NBC station doesn’t.
