I believe Lorne Michaels’ real name is Lorne lippowitz.

Lorne lippowitz flows so well I can understand why he changed it to something not nearly as catchy.

I checked: You're right about his birth name (Lipowitz) and he was born in Israel on a "kibbutz" (Jewish socialist farm) but then lived in Canada from infancy till coming to US at 24.

Wasn't America lucky?
