Or, put another way: I view California as one does a severely drug-addicted sibling or child that’s been mooching off you for years and years. Eventually, you realize that all you’ve done is be an enabler - and that there’s nothing else you can do to help them out but to harden your heart, cut them off and hope they straighten out. I believe some call it “tough love.” Well, that’s where I’m at right now.

The Governor Brown has it under control. It happens every year, which is why he has built up the water storage capacity and forest management policies in the face of the environmentalists’ resistance.

If my relatives out there suffer loss or are injured or perish, that’s a shame but oh well. They were warned (by myself and others) about the consequences of California’s idiotic policies...

You sound like a real piece of work.

I see you are from Texas. Well, during Hurricane Harvey, we were all wishing you guys the best. We didn't ask whether you all were Republican or Democrats. We didn't point out the fact that some of the hardest hit areas (such as Harris County which includes Houston) went for Hillary by a wide margin. Nobody here was saying that they didn't care about the hurricane destroying property and lives because of the way Houston voted.

You probably think you are ideologically pure being from Texas and all but maybe you ought to stop being judgmental and start worrying about the fact that Texas is in real danger of becoming a blue state. There were a lot of blue counties from Texas voting for Hillary in 2016. More blue on the Texas map than in 2012. Why don't you worry about getting your own house in order before throwing crap over the fence.

That’s horrible.

Praying for you and your wife and, of course, your home.

Take care.

I usually avoid talking much with such people as these, but this seems like a good time to share a few recent threads:

Pssst - I grew up in California but left in disgust back in 1995. Not originally from Texas.

"You probably think you are ideologically pure being from Texas and all..."

I'm from Texas and this comment of yours says a heck of a lot more about you than it says about me.

The ugliness on these fire threads is disgusting.

California was feeling left out getting all that Federal hurricane rebuilding moola going to red states, so suddenly fires are raging out of country in chic, swanky Napa Valley...

O.K. Since you’re from Texas, why don’t you just go out in the barnyard and kick cow patties around, because your attitude with toward other human beings, you belong in a big pile of what you’d be walking in. Personally, I’d vote for JimRob to give you the ZOT!

We just returned from Napa (we live elsewhere in the Bay Area). We had to go take care of some business there with commercial property we own in the City of Napa. We were also there last night until about 8 p.m. and all was normal and quiet. We arrived in Napa at about noon. Never seen smoke that thick. Ash was falling all over everything! And the wind was still blowing although not as much as it did over night. Now tonight, the winds are calm and the smoke is leaving the Valley with the exception of those areas where the fire is still on the move. The Atlas Peak Fire which is an area above Silverado Country Club is where the loss of homes has been the greatest. The CC has lost some buildings, but they claim that most everything has survived.
To the few dolts here on FR who have “welcomed” this tragedy “because it's happening to Liberals,” should be ashamed of their comments. They besmirch the values on which FR is founded. They are as bad as those who have commented that the 58 people who died in Las Vegas "deserved it because they were likely conservatives, since we all know conservatives like country music."

Think about it: Red, Gulf-coast states and Puert Rico will pick up Federal Disaster Relief dollars. PR may get what amounts to a “Marshall Plan” to get the roads and grid into the 21st Century. Blue state California doesn’t want their dollars going to “yokels” and islanders when they can get a piece of that action through “uncontrollable wild fires” and declaring the state a “disaster area.”

The funny thing is that hurricanes are always politicized as “climate change” harbingers. But _not_ “wild fires.” Because clearing the undergrowth (i.e., kindling) to _prevent_ forest fires runs afoul of the environmental laws that liberals enacted and love, they have a quick, easy, and “natural” way to get theirs, too, if red states pick up money from evil, anthropomorphicly-caused (in their view) hurricanes.

And I’ll bet folks there are more man-made “wild fires” created from carelessness and arson than there ever were hurricanes and other storms created as a result of “climate change.”
