Erik Prince is considering a Senate run in Wyoming: Report

Erik Prince, the founder and former head of the controversial private security firm Blackwater, is mulling over a run for a U.S. Senate seat in Wyoming. The potential move has been encouraged by former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who has sought to wage war on the Republican establishment.

Prince, 48, is now the head of the China-based private aviation and logistics firm, Frontier Services Group, and would challenge Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., who is an establishment favorite. Throughout the weekend Prince has looked for ways he could establish residency in the state, the New York Times reported.

Barrasso would have the backing of top Republican leaders including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., as well as "the well-funded political committees loyal to him," the Times reported. However, in the wake of Roy Moore's victory over incumbent Sen. Luther Strange, R-Ala., as well as increased elevation from Bannon, Prince could present a serious challenge.

I don't know anything about Prince's politics. I suppose having Bannon's blessing makes him worth a look.

Can he talk his way out of the blackwater scandals? We can’t find anybody to run who isn’t tainted?

He hasn’t even established residency so why Wyoming? Small state. Cheaper to run. He should have learned from Lynn Cheney and run in Virginia.

This is freaking awesome..!

this guy is fantastic, he is such a solid hardcore conservative.

he’s great, he went to that very very conservative private college in Michigan that is advertised all the time by Rush, it’s not Liberty University, it’s the other one.

the US government made it virtually impossible for Prince to do business with them:

typically the contracts with the state department where the size of those oversized D ring binders and they would govern such niggling details as the brand of the sunglasses that all the operators would use..!

as just one example of a hundred examples.

The state department also always refused to use Incognito, undercover transport, they always wanted high-profile, well waxed, spotless black SUVs with blacked out windows which scream “VIP, please RPG me”.

The state department also frequently insisted on using the same route for Ingress and also egress: tactically very unsound, that screams give “please Ambush me at the same place in a couple hours, please”

This poor guy put up with all of that and more and at the endof it all, Leon Panetta still needlessly burned him as a CIA asset and the state department then sued him.

No wonder even a patriot like him later considered doing business with the Chinese less troublesome.

I would put Eric Prince up with the likes of Jim Robinson and Matt Drudge.

He went to Hillsdale College and he is an arch-conservative and a Catholic, I believe.

“Barrasso would have the backing of top Republican leaders including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.”

That’s been the kiss of death lately.

Brother of Betsy DeVos. That’s good. Privatizing the Afghan war where he will profit IMMENSELY? Sounds too fishy. Government/military mix Ike warned about.

Hillsdale College.

Thanks for the info on Prince. I’m not in Wyoming and I have no idea if he has a realistic chance, but sounds like it will be an election campaign worth following.

Barrasso is the least of our problems, no? I can’t recall him being a thorn in Trump’s side like Graham, McCain, Heller, Flake, Corker, Collins, Burr, etc. Unless I’m missing something.

Prince has good credentials but needs to establish Wyoming roots first. Rocky Mountain states don't take kindly to carpetbaggers. Orin Hatch managed to win in Utah by pointing out that his father had deep Utah roots but had to move to Pennsylvania during the Great Depression to get work. Wyoming is even more rural and less carpet bagger friendly than Utah.

They will appreciate his patriotism but will expect a better story than "I bought a ranch here so I could run for office."

Him being a SEAL is admiral but hardly a proof against being “bought”

Even a disciple of Christ had his price.

Ever heard of “Judas”?

I sorry that I am so jaded. It comes with age and being “burned” by too many politicians who promise you the moon but deliver Arkansas.

He may be a great guy buy going “Chinese”...for money

Already has a air of stench about it. Being the Chinese business model is “rob westerners while they watch.”

I know of no reason to believe Barrasso poses any kind of problem for Trump and his agenda.

However, I’m fascinated by how Bannon and Breitbart are trying to take over the Republican Party. My gut tells me they think they will have more influence than they actually will, but their very aggressive crusade is of great interest. The Tea Party made inroads into reforming the party, and I’m glad to see the effort continuing.

That seal thing was one good day, long ago. It doesn’t mean you’re cool forever. Today he’s a Chinese shill, very CIA connected, looking for a Senate seat in a state he has no connections to. He needs to run where he has residences. That’s Virginia, UAE and Abu Dhabi.

Doesn’t sound like Senate material to me. Certainly not from Wyoming.
