Why did the window to Hodge’s room get broken out?

When did it get broken out?
-after Hodge ran.
How did the perp get into Hodge’s room?
-unknown, usually in adjoining rooms, there are two doors, lockable from the inside of each room.
I’ve heard the following theories on why the second window was broken:
1. To provide a draft to help clear all of the smoke that would be produced in the shooting
2. That otherwise the air pressure from just the one broken window could suck a man right out it
3. To have a better vantage point to shoot at the fuel storage tanks at the airfield
