Obama Study Concluded Firearms Used for Self-Defense ‘Important Crime Deterrent’

“Self-defense can be an important crime deterrent,” concluded a study by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) mandated via executive order by President Barack Obama. The findings also question the effectiveness of gun-control measures.

The $10 million study was commissioned by President Barack Obama as part of 23 executive orders he signed in January of 2013.

The study’s findings include:

- Gun-use is the safest of studied “self-protective strategies,”

- Suicide accounts for most firearm deaths,

- Felons who use guns very seldom obtain their guns by stealing them, and

- There is no evidence that gun restrictions reduce gun violence.

“Studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was ‘used’ by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies,” the CDC study, entitled “Priorities For Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence,” states.

The crime situation was so bad everyone had to get security

Now just imagine if criminals had no fear that targeted persons would have a weapon

Hello out of control crime . . MUCH worse than it is today, even with all the security

I guess that Obola must have been hitting his bong like a bump stock if he actually released the findings reported.

How come insurance companies do not ask you if you own a gun or not? I found out about that years ago because those companies do not identify gun owners as a potential risk group, in the way they do for 16-24 year old males concerning auto insurance.

do not identify gun owners as a potential risk group

And why are we a "potential risk group"?

My comment was intended to show that since insurance companies base a great deal of their business on assessing and determining risk and do not identify us as such from simply owning firearms, why then do Dumbocrat and Lieberal politicians see it fit to do so?

Reason why the Vegas shooter did not shoot from the streets... because he would have if we were not packing.

hence the issue of full auto fire is completely moot

there is no evidence “that passage of right-to-carry laws decrease or increase violence crime.”

I’m pretty sure John Lott has contrary data.

Specifically in Florida.
