I have no love for bump stocks, but if Republicans think this will shut them up they are sadly mistaken.
One minute after a bump stock ban is voted for, the Democrats will be back. They will condemn the previous ban as not near enough and demand, as a “reasonable first step,” a ban on “high-capacity magazines.” Then they will demand a ban on all semi-auto rifles. Then a ban on all rifles and handguns.
