Washington (CNN)Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigators met this past summer with the former British spy whose dossier on alleged Russian efforts to aid the Trump campaign spawned months of investigations that have hobbled the Trump administration, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Information from Christopher Steele, a former MI-6 officer, could help investigators determine whether contacts between people associated with the Trump campaign and suspected Russian operatives broke any laws. CNN has learned that the FBI and the US intelligence community last year took the Steele dossier more seriously than the agencies have publicly acknowledged. James Clapper, then the director of national intelligence, said in a January 2017 statement that the intelligence community had "not made any judgment that the information in this document is reliable."
The intelligence agencies, particularly the CIA, and the FBI took Steele's research seriously enough that they kept it out of a publicly-released January report on Russian meddling in the election in order to not divulge which parts of the dossier they had corroborated and how.

Trump needs to go after the dossier full force... the dossier is the swamp’s “What difference, at this point, does it make?!” moment. It goes something like this:
1) if the dossier were legit, they would already be using it against Trump to prove that the Russians had leverage over Trump and that the Trump campaign colluded with a foreign entity to influence the outcome of the election, but...
2) the dossier is rubbish, and bringing it forth would only bring more focus to it...
3) by allowing the swamp (Meuller) to interview and conclude it was fake they can meet calls for further investigation with “ it was already dismissed (after serious consideration, since, you know, even document is fake, they still stand by the story), and further investigation is just partisan grandstanding,” because...
4) they can’t allow further investigations that would publicly reveal the source of funding the “research” for the dossier, as that funding would indisputably prove the customer(s) for the dossier colluded with a foreign entity to influence the outcome of a U.S. election.
What crime is the special counsel purporting to investigate again? Trump needs to cite the unwillingness of Steele to come before the Senate intel committee and reveal his paying customer as grounds for a special counsel to investigate the DNC and RINOs for colluding with a foreign agent to affect the outcome of the election. Seems there is more evidence of this than there ever was of Trump Russia collusion. I mean, Hillary’s staff met with the British ambassador for crying out loud!
